H.Maheshwari who is a student at University of Madras’ Master’s in Public Administration programme has been an intern at Prajnya this summer.
Finally, with her help, we have gotten started on putting together a database of profiles of women active in the public sphere. Her primary mandate was to work on women in the freedom movement and other movements of the time, but she found herself including very contemporary figures in her profiles. It will be up to us to build on this solid beginning Maheshwari has made for us.
As part of her internship, Maheshwari has written an essay for us on the three figures who impressed her most: Kamaladevi Chhattopadhyay, Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy and Sucheta Kripalani. She has also written the blog-post that follows and the subject is her favourite of the three: Kamaladevi Chhattopadhyay.
Incidentally, our 2008 summer interns wrote short papers on similar topics. Take a look!
